Celebrating Labor Day in Galveston

The two-month holiday hiatus between Independence Day and Labor Day is far too long! If you’re ready to start planning your Galveston Labor Day weekend, you’re not alone. If there’s anything you deserve after a year like 2020, it’s a fun-filled vacation!

Whether you’re going solo, adventuring with other adults, or bringing the whole family (kids included) along for the ride, there’s something outstanding for you to check out in Galveston on Labor Day.

While this list was curated in 2021, be on the lookout for potential closures due to COVID-19. And don’t forget to book a place to stay

Adults Only

Are you taking a girls’ weekend? Or are you planning a bachelor party, time with your sweetie, or some much-needed alone time? A Galveston Labor Day is a perfect choice! Check out our recommendations for adult-friendly activities to book for your upcoming long weekend in Galveston.

Galveston Island Brewing

There’s nothing more satisfying on a hot summer day than an ice-cold beer (or hard seltzer)! If you’ve got a grown-ups-only group headed to Galveston, you’ll want to make a stop at Galveston Island Brewing to test out their variety of tasty brews.

Open seven days a week (and only closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day), you could even visit them on every day of your long weekend. But, if you want to catch a brewery tour, you’ll have to show up on Saturday, when tours are held at 1:00 pm sharp. Tours last about 30 minutes, and yes, you’re welcome to sip and learn!

Galveston Island Horse and Pony Rides

If this Galveston Labor Day weekend will be a long-needed retreat from your city slicker lifestyle, you’ll want to check out Galveston Island Horse and Pony Rides! Even if you’re a long-time rider, a horseback ride on the beach is a unique activity that very few people get the chance to experience. They even offer sunset rides, where riders can take in every moment of that gorgeous Gulf sunset on horseback.

The first ride of the day starts at 11:00 am and the last ride of the day begins at 5:00 pm. You can book online or by phone, but the calendar fills up fast. Claim your spot on horseback ASAP!

Activities for the Whole Family

Whether you’ve got the kids in tow or you finally agreed to take your in-laws on vacation, there are plenty of family-friendly activities that will make great additions to your Galveston Labor Day roster. If your minivan is a sardine can full of family, check out the activities below. Each of these suggestions would be perfect for a group adventure!
